Dieulefit town
When considering the literal translation of Dieulefit (God made it) it is not hard to see why the village was named as such. Set in the tranquil backdrop of mountains and wide-ranging landscapes there are endless possibilities. This includes scenic walks, hikes and rides (suitable for all levels), as well as visiting historic landmarks. If that's not enough, there's no better place to try your hand at pottery and ceramics.

History
Dieulefit boasts the motto “Lou temps passo, passo lou ben.” This translates into “Time passes, spend it well.” There are plenty of opportunities to do so, by seeing the area various historical sites and museums. For examples see below:
· City of the Righteous among Nations - a memorial monument dedicated to the passive resistance during WWII.
Crest Tower - A medieval fortress known to be the highest keep in France.
Grignan Castle - One of the grandest Renaissance Palaces in the South East of France.
The perched medieval villages of Poet - Laval and Poet-Celard, entirely restored.

The market
Dieulefit is well known for its organic Provençal produce including olives, truffles and most famously “Picodon”, a type of goat’s cheese. Scrumptious food can be found in the local restaurants located roughly five minutes drive from the cottage. Visitors can partake of “Apéritif” and “Gouter”, pre-lunch drink or tea-time snack in the many trendy establishments of the centre. Additionally, the local delicacies can be found at a weekly artisan market taking place on the “champ de Mars Square” every Friday morning, 08:30 – 13:00.
If you fancy a tipple, the Drôme region is home to several “wine appellations” including Cotes du Rhone, Grignan, Adhemar, Vinsobres and Diois sparkling wines. Here you can meet the winemakers and sample some of France's finest. There are also several breweries and distilleries in the area, depending on your preference.

Lavender
The cultivation of lavender is widely practiced throughout Dieulefit and its surroundings. During the summer months, purple fields fill the horizon and the air with the notable scent. Take a stroll to experience these wonders, best seen in June / July. Lavender oils / cosmetics are also widely available.
Local Pottery
Pottery and ceramics are ingrained in the history of Dieulefit. Dating back to the industrial revolution of the 19th century to the present day, the streets are filled with craftspeople who strive to keep the art of pottery alive. This can be seen throughout Dieulefit's many workshops, boutiques and how the village is decorated. As a result, Dieulefit was awarded the Crafts Rural Excellence Award. If pottery is a passion of yours, the Ceramics Museum (Maison de la Céramique) is a must. It offers an insight into the world of local ceramics, as well as courses and workshops.
